Go Wild Pass

The Go Wild Pass is a non-transferrable subscription that allows you to purchase unlimited fares for $0.01 per segment, plus approximately $14.90 in taxes and fees for domestic flights, with fees being more variable for international travel.

The main downside of flying using the Go Wild Pass is that you can generally only confirm your flight the day before your flight for domestic flights, or 10 days before your flight for international flights. Starting with the 2025-2026 season, you can book flights earlier, although an early booking fee may apply.

Blackout Dates

Another concern with this promotion is the blackout dates, although there are only 55 during the 12 months that the pass is active, with the vast majority of them being dates around a holiday. Unless you are only able to travel around holidays, it isn’t difficult to work around them.

Frontier Credit Card

Currently, there is a bonus on the Frontier Airlines World Mastercard where you will earn 50,000 miles and a $100 flight voucher after $500 in spend, and you earn Elite Gold Status for 90 days after the first purchase. If you spend $3,000 in purchases within the first 90 days after account opening, your gold status will be extended for 12 months.

This is a particularly enticing offer when considering the Go Wild Pass, since gold status with Frontier provides a free carry-on bag, and the credit card provides 2 free checked bags. The terms for the Go Wild Pass do not specifically confirm that the checked bag benefit will be honored, but the terms of the credit card state that it is valid for flights marketed and operated by Frontier, which should include flights booked through the Go Wild Pass. The Go Wild Pass terms explicitly state that elite benefits regarding bags and seats will be honored, so you will certainly get at least 1 carry-on bag for free.

This credit card has an annual fee of $95 and offers a $100 flight voucher every account anniversary after spending $2,500 or more. If you fly Frontier at least once per year, this could be enough to offset the fee each year, with the free bags being an added benefit.

The best time to apply for this card would be towards the end of April or beginning of May, so that the 12 months of gold status expires at the same time as the Go Wild Pass. Alternatively, if you don’t have any travel planned until later in the year, it could make sense to wait longer to apply, so that you have gold status benefits when redeeming your points after the pass expires.

My Thoughts

If you only fly internationally or in premium cabins, this promotion isn’t for you. If you value a flight as only a mode of transportation and typically travel along Frontier’s route map anyway, this could give you an opportunity to use points for hotels while having your flights covered, or to continue traveling while continuing to earn points to use for future redemptions.

I will likely take advantage of this promotion, since my home airport of Charlotte, NC has Frontier flights, and I expect to travel to several destinations served by Frontier in the upcoming year.

As an added bonus, since my travel will be a combination of personal and business travel, a portion of the purchase price will be tax deductible.
