Ways to Support Creators

Super Chats and Channel Memberships are two ways to support your favorite YouTube creators. A Super Chat is a chat sent during a live stream that you pay to send. This highlights the message in the live chat feed and it can help your comment stand out, making it more likely that the creator responds to your message.

Channel Memberships are subscription based and can give you additional benefits such as badges next to your name, additional members-only videos or early access to videos, or other perks. Many creators also prioritize member comments when responding to viewers on videos, which may be something that you value.

Super Chats and Channel Memberships seem to be equal in terms of the amount that YouTube keeps, so one isn’t better than the other, and you have the option of doing both, assuming both features are enabled for any particular channel.

Google Opinion Rewards

Google Opinion Rewards is an app that will send you very short surveys regularly (in my experience, they typically take less than 1 minute), and they pay you in the form of Google credit. I have seen payouts for a single survey range from $0.10-$1.00. Be aware that the credits expire 1 year after earning, but overall, it’s an easy way to get funds that can be used through Google Play, such as for in-app purchases, or through YouTube, which is owned by Google.

Why This Matters

The Google Play credit that is earned from doing surveys can be used to pay for Super Chats and Channel Memberships. If you don’t generally use these options to support channels, this could enable you to do so without having to spend any money out of pocket. If you are already using Super Chats or Memberships, you may still find this beneficial as this could allow you to give more, or more often, than you may otherwise choose to do.
